New Mailboxes

Yet another improvement happened today. The homeowners association installed new mailboxes for every unit in the development. They are sturdy, magnetic closure units that should last a long time and improve the overall quality feel of this neighborhood.

Our house is filled with energy saving technologies, the biggest of which is the fact that it only has two walls facing the outside. This helps keep the heat out when necessary and the warmth in when we occasionally need to pay for warmth in Atlanta.

Other green considerations:

• Separate heat pumps and condenser units for the living and sleeping areas allowing zone temperature control

The Community Garden

Our little community had a piece of land that was previously unused wasteland alongside the small stream that runs through our community.

A couple of very dedicated, green-fingered neighbors spent many long weekends developing a shared community garden with flowers, native plants and wooden boxes to grow fresh, organic fruits, vegetables and herbs.

We have been enjoying the herbs, the tomatoes and the lettuce and the kids have enjoyed contributing to their little community garden.
